Chester & Vicinity King Day Events

The MLK Commemorative Committee of Chester & Vicinity has organized the following events, all of which are open to the public, which will occur on Monday, January 20:

  • Volunteer to participate in service projects taking place at the Chester Boys & Girls Club, 201 E. 7th Street, Chester PA, 9 AM – 12:30 PM. All volunteers are asked to pre-register by sending an email to aubrey.proud@crozer.org prior and to report to the Boys & Girls Club at 9 AM on Monday, January 20.
  • Attend a ceremonial wreath-laying in front of Old Main Building (where Dr. King studied when he was in the Crozer Theological Semiary) at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, 1:00 PM.
  • Listen to a keynote address by Rev. Dr. Clifford Johnson of Shiloh Baptist Church at Clark Auditorium, Widener University, 2:00 PM.
  • Celebrate the significance of Dr. King’s life and work, and honor the memory of Nelson Mandela, at the Alumni Auditorium, Widener University, 6:30 PM. This event is sponsored by Widener University’s Black Student Union.
