BOX SCORE

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Senior captain Sarah Lambert dished out 20 assists while junior Hillary Santana and sophomore Allie Coleman finished with 15 and 10 digs respectively as the Swarthmore College volleyball team (11-4, 1-1) got back on the winning track, defeating Washington College 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-8) on Tuesday evening.

The victory is the Garnet's first Centennial Conference win of the 2010 season.

Lambert led Swarthmore with 20 assists against McDaniel.

Junior Genny Pezzola led the Swat attack, smashing nine kills past the Washington defense.  Sophomore Kathryn Montemurro dropped eight kills of her own to add to Swarthmore's 35 kills in the match.

Five Garnet players dished out service aces with junior Lisa Shang, freshman Danielle Sullivan and Coleman each with two and Lambert with one.

The Swat defense allowed the Shorewomen to only 24 kills as Santana and Coleman would stave off 25 attempts while Pezzola would pick up seven digs.

The Garnet will try to keep the ball rolling on Saturday October 2 when McDaniel visits Tarble Pavilion for the annual "Dig for the Cure" game.  Play is set to begin at 1:00 PM.
