Mark Wee Named Centennial Conference Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – Junior Mark Wee of the Swarthmore College men’s tennis team has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the week ending April 27, the Conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Baseball Shifts Schedule, Will Travel to Rutgers-Camden

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Today’s scheduled baseball game with Philadelphia Biblical has been canceled due to poor field conditions. However, the Garnet will still be in action tonight, as the team will now travel to Rutgers-Camden in a make-up of last night’s postponed game. Action will begin at 7:00 p.m. from Campbell’s Field.

April Showers Bring More Baseball Cancellations

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Due to the continuation of steady rainfall the Swarthmore College baseball team’s game against Rutgers-Camden scheduled for 7 PM in Camden has been cancelled. Swat is scheduled to play Philadelphia Biblical tomorrow for its Senior Day. Action is set to begin at 2:30 PM.

Weston Ties for Fifth in Centennial Conference Championships; Team Finishes Sixth

ELVERSON, Pa. – The Swarthmore College golf team dropped a few spots on Sunday at the Centennial Conference golf championships at the Stonewall Golf Club shooting a 971 over the three rounds and finishing sixth in the tournament. Franklin & Marshall would take home the title with a 910.

Sophomore Paul Weston was named to the All-Conference golf team after tying for fifth overall in the tournament. Weston shot a 229, carding a 74 in round one, 80 in round two and a 75 in the final round.

Swarthmore Baseball Rained Out

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Steady Sunday rains have forced the Swarthmore College baseball team to cancel its 1 PM game against Centenary. The team will try to fight off the rain under the lights at Rutgers-Camden on Monday evening. Play is scheduled to start at 7 PM.

Garnet Tennis Cruises to 8-1 Win Over F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. – Sophomore Rosie DuBrin picked up victories at No. 1 singles and doubles, as the Swarthmore College women’s tennis team (11-4, 9-1) cruised to an 8-1 victory over Franklin & Marshall in its final match before the Centennial Conference playoffs Saturday afternoon from Lancaster.

Swat Closes Out Regular Season With 7-2 Win Over F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. – Sophomore Zak Kelm, sophomore Max Bressman and junior Mark Wee all finished with victories in singles and doubles play as the Swarthmore College men’s tennis team (9-9, 8-1) closed out the regular season with a hard-fought 7-2 victory over Franklin & Marshall on Saturday afternoon from Lancaster.

Garnet Prepare for Centennials With Strong Showing at Lions Invitational

EWING, N.J. – With just one week to go until the 2010 Centennial Conference Track & Field Championships from Swarthmore College, sophomore Kenyetta Givans – a two-time gold medalist at the Indoor Championships – showed that she is once again going to be a force to be reckoned with, as she earned fifth-place finish in the women’s 100 meter hurdles (15.68) and 11th place finish in the women’s 100 meter dash (13.08) to lead the Swat track & field teams at the TCNJ Lions Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Swat Baseball Splits with Dickinson, Secures No. 3 Seed in Conference Playoffs

CARLISLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College baseball team (19-15, 11-7 CC) split a Saturday doubleheader with the Dickinson Red Devils (8-25, 4-14 CC) to secure a No. 3 seed in the Centennial Conference baseball playoffs. Swat lost game one 8-6 and won game two 15-3.

Swat Softball Preps for Postseason With Split of Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. – After not scoring a single run in a 1-0 loss in the first half of Saturday’s doubleheader with Haverford, the bats came to life in the second game for the Swarthmore College softball team (19-21, 10-6), as the Garnet pounded out 12 runs on 14 hits to earn a split with Fords thanks to a 12-4 victory in the second game.
