BOX SCORE

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The reigning NCAA Division III women's lacrosse champions and current No. 2 Franklin & Marshall Diplomats (8-1, 4-0 CC) visited Clothier Field on Tuesday night and handled the Swarthmore women's lacrosse team (6-4, 0-4 CC) with a 17-7 victory.  Sophomore Marie Mutryn highlighted the Garnet offense with five goals.

Mutryn led the Garnet scoring five of its seven goals in the game.

Mutryn was the story of the game for Swat, scoring five of the Garnet's seven goals off of only seven shots on goal.

F&M would net the first five goals of the game but the Garnet would give the Dips a scare as junior Emily Evans and Mutryn would score three of the next four goals in the game putting Swat within three at 6-3.

Mutryn would net one more goal before the end of the first half but the Diplomats would blast four more by senior keeper Allison Grein to make the score 10-4 at half.

The Dips would come out firing in the second half with six goals in the first 16 minutes and would hold Swarthmore from scoring until the 23rd minute of the half.

Swat would score three straight goals late in the half but would come up short as F&M would net the final goal of the game with 0.02 seconds on the clock to cap off the 17-7 victory.

In goal, Grein would finish with nine saves in for Swarthmore.
