Garnet Women Downed by Washington Shorewomen 71-67

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Junior Ceylan Bodur dropped 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the year, but her efforts weren't enough to lift the Garnet (2-5, 1-4 CC) on as the road as Washington College (3-5, 3-2 CC) defeated the Swarthmore 71-67 on Wednesday night in the Cain Athletic Center.

Bodur had 21 points and 10 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season.

Senior Lisa Schumacher scored a season-high 10 points - all in the second half - to help the Garnet to get within three points with only five minutes left in the game.  But that was as close as Swarthmore would get, unable  to overcome Washington's 47% shooting from the field.

Junior Kathryn Stockbower was held season-low 12 points and eight rebounds, which snaps Stockbower's streak of eight consecutive games with a double-double.

Washington's Jane O'Donnell made it hard for the Garnet start any kind of offense in the first half as she dropped five of her game-high seven 3-pointers in the first half.

Freshman Madeline Ross dropped a career-high 13 points for the Garnet despite the loss. Ross has scored in double-figures in three games for the season.

Swarthmore will travel to Widener University on Thursday December 10,  for its last game before the long winter break.  Action starts at 6 PM.
