Swarthmore Athletes Named to the All-Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Team

LANCASTER, Pa.—Six Swarthmore student-athletes were named to the fall All-Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Team today. The Centennial's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee created the team to emphasize sportsmanship within the Conference. All institutions elected one member from their team who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be a member of the All-Centennial team.

The following is a list of Swarthmore student-athletes named to the Sportsmanship Team this fall; their sports are listed alphabetically.

Men’s Cross Country

Andrew Van Buren ’10 (Hudson, OH/Western Reserve Academy)

Led the Garnet in the Centennial Conference Championships, finishing in a time of 30:38.53.

Women’s Cross Country

Lauren DeLuca ’10 (Audubon, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick)

Placed in the top-30 out of a field of more than 100 in the 2009 Centennial Conference Championship.

Field Hockey

Joslyn Young ’10 (Ann Arbor, MI/Community)

Named to the 2009 Second Team All-Centennial Conference. Finished the season with four goals and two assists and had the highest shooting percentage (.444) for the Garnet.

Men’s Soccer

Micah Rose ’12 (Williston, VT/Champlain Valley Union)

The sophomore midfielder started all twenty games for the Garnet, helping the Sweet-16 bound team with three goals and two assists.

Women’s Soccer

Monica Cody ’10 (Torrance, CA/Marymount)

The senior midfielder helped the Women’s soccer squad to a third straight ECAC title.

Volleyball

Sarah Lambert '11(Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk)

The Junior outside hitter was amongst the top of the Centennial in service aces (48), aiding the Garnet to the best year in Swarthmore volleyball’s history.
