Wallwork Reaches Semifinals at ITA Southeast Regional

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Two-time Centennial Conference Performer of the Year senior Rachel Wallwork has advanced to the semifinals in the women's championship singles draw of the ITA Southeast Regionals over the weekend from the University of Mary Washington .

Wallwork defeated Kat Steiner 6-0, 6-0 in the opening round, Alisa Liebowitz, 6-0, 6-1 in the Round of 32, Ariel Several 6-3, 6-3 in the Round of 16 and  Blair Breski 6-2, 7-6 (5) in the quarterfinals to reach Monday's semifinals.

Emily Rosenblum made it to the round of 32 defeating Catherine Reed 6-3, 6-0 in the round of 64.  She lost to Courtney Chin 6-1,6-1 in the round of 32.

Rosenblum and Wallwork also made a great run in the women's championship doubles over the weekend.  The pair defeated Lynn and Walt 9-8 in the round of 32 and Elamir and Several 8-6 in the round of 16 until they were halted by a tough loss in the quarterfinals by Chui and Tapak 8-3.

In the Blue 1 class singles, Dina Zingaro made it to the consolation semifinals.  She defeated Mackey Wesner 8-3 in the consolation quarterfinals before falling to Meredith Lackey 8-1.

Wallwork will continue her quest for a championship today as she competes in the semifinals.
