Garnet Soccer Teams Move Up in National Rankings

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Both Swarthmore soccer teams opened the season with a 3-0 record and a tournament championship. Now, both teams are shaking up the national rankings.

Both the Garnet men's and women's soccer teams made a splash in the most recent NSCAA Division III national rankings released on Tuesday afternoon, with the men moving up from No. 13 to No. 11 and the women entering the poll for the first time this season at No. 23.

The Garnet men moved up from No. 13 to No. 11 in the latest poll after winning three games during the opening week of the season, including victories  over Wesley (3-0) and Catholic  (4-1) at the 12th Annual Garnet Alumni Classic. The men will be in  for quite a challenge this upcoming weekend when it hosts No. 2 Stevens Tech on Sunday from Clothier Field Stadium.

The Garnet women enter the poll at No. 23 after opening week victories over Alvernia (2-1), Baptist Bible (6-1) and Albright (2-0). The women's team will be back into action on Saturday when it hosts Elizabethtown from Clothier Field Stadium.
