wlax_mutryn_09Even though the Griffin Colleen Dellostretto scored the first goals of the game, the Garnet scored the next eight goals and never looked back. Mutryn (Rexford, N.Y. / Niskayuna) (left) and Vachal (Somerset, N.J. / Rutgers Prep) had the crowds tossing their hats in the first half, both scoring three goals. Also scoring in the first 30 minutes were seniors Kelsey Hatzell (Havertown, Pa. / Havertown), Marissa Schaffer (Moreland, Ohio / Laurel School) and sophomore Emily Evans (Atlanta, Ga. / North Springs). The half closed with a score of 10-5 Swarthmore showing on the score board.

Gwynedd-Mercy scored an additional five goals in the second half but it was just not enough for a come back. Swarthmore netted six goals in the second half as the Griffin goalie stopped an additional 11 shots from going into the net.

Junior goalie Allison Grein (Floral Park, N.Y. / Floral Park) earned her sixth win of the season, stopping 10 shots from going into the net.

The Garnet will host McDaniel College on Saturday afternoon at Clothier Field. The Centennial Conference contest is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
