Wilson Named CC Offensive Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Swarthmore senior attack Stelios Wilson was named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week of February 23- March 1, as announced by the Conference office on March 2.

Wilson (Moorestown, N.J. / Moorestown) scored a career-high five goals on in an 11-8 win at Eastern on February 28.  The senior captain tied for the team lead with 22 goals in 2008, tallied six points on Saturday afternoon (also a career-high).  His previous high came last April 23 with a four-goal, one-assist effort in a 12-6 win over Drew.  mlax_wilsons_08

The five goals was the scored by a Swarthmore player since Chris Harman ‘08 tallied five scores at Drew on April 3, 2005.

Wilson joins attack Gavin Musynske ’10 as the second Swarthmore offensive player to be honored by the Conference in the past two seasons; Musynske was named Offensive Player of the Week on March 18, 2008.

Swarthmore stands at 1-0 overall at the start of the season and travels to Long Island, N.Y. for its next contest, a 2:00 p.m. non-conference game at the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
