Stockbower Earns Trio of Weekly Honors

Swarthmore sophomore Kathryn Stockbower was selected as the Centennial Conference Player of the Week and the E.C.A.C Division III South Region Player of the Week for women's basketball, as announced earlier this week.

Stockbower (Fort Washington, Pa. / Upper Dublin), a forward averaged 20.7 points and 15.0 rebounds per game in the 2-1 week for the Garnet while shooting 53.4 percent from the floor. She concluded a 15 consecutive double-double streak with 16 points and a Conference record-tying 24 rebounds against McDaniel followed up a a 21-and-12 performance versus Muhlenberg. In the 70-63 win against Johns Hopkins, the sophomore forward posted a game-high 25 points.

Stockbower's 24 rebounds in the McDaniel game broke the school record set by Nancy Rosenbaum '96, who posted 23 rebounds on December 5, 1992 in a non-conference game against Vassar.  It is the fourth time in Stockbower's career that she has reached the 20-rebound plateau.

Stockbower currently leads the Centennial in both scoring (19.7 points per game) and rebounding (16.0 rebounds per game) following Tuesday night's 23-point, 14-rebound effort in a win over Bryn Mawr.

Stockbower earns Centennial honors for the second time in her young career.  She shared Conference honors on Februrary 4 and eventually was named First-Team All-Centennial.  Stockbower was honored by the E.C.A.C. last season as well, winning E.C.A.C. South Region Co-Rookie of the Year.

She also appears on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for the second time, also appearing on January 7-13. The D3hoops.com Team of the Week honors five men and five women each week, from Division III teams around the nation and is selected by the editors of D3hoops.com.

Swarthmore is currently 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the Centennial Conference and will host Goucher on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. to complete the first-semester schedule.
