Jen and Gen Show A Hit in Collegeville

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- Swarthmore outside hitters Jen Wang '09 and Genny Pezzola '12 combined for 29 kills and 32 digs to lead the Garnet volleyball squad to a resounding 3-0 victory at Ursinus Wednesday evening in Centennial action.

Swarthmore snaps a four-match skid, improving to 6-16 overall and 2-5 in the Conference while the Bears drop to 6-14 overall and 1-7 in the Centennial.  The game scores read 25-10, 25-20, 25-20.

Wang (Palo Alto, Calif. / Palo Alto) broke her own school record for kills in a season (319, set last season) after topping all players with 17 kills and 21 digs.  Wang now has a team-high 321 kills in 2008, accounting for a 1,132 in her career (just 20 shy of breaking the school record held by Erica George '07).

Pezzola (Oakland, Calif. / St. Mary's College HS) contributed a double-double of her own with 12 kills and 11 digs.

Swarthmore returns to Tarble Pavilion this Saturday, Oct. 25 with a 1:00 p.m. match with Gettysburg.  The Garnet will honor its two senior captains, Wang and Erin Heaney (Buffalo, N.Y. / City Honors), with the annual Senior Day festivities prior to the match.
