Wallwork NCAA-Bound

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Swarthmore sophomore Rachel Wallwork has been selected to compete at the 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Individual Championships.

Wallwork (Washington, D.C. / Georgetown Day) was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Year in early May, the third Swarthmore women's tennis player to be receive the honor in program history. During her sophomore campaign, Wallwork posted a 17-3 overall record in singles while going 10-0 in Conference play at the number-one spot. In the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll, she is ranked eighth in the Atlantic South region.

Wallwork is the fourth Swarthmore women’s tennis player in four years invited to the NCAA Individual Championships; she follows the footsteps of Anjani Reddy ’04, Sonya Renyolds ’07 and Sara Sargent ’07.

The singles and doubles championships will be hosted in Saint Peter, Minnesota May 16-18 at the Swanson Tennis Center on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College.
