Hamilton (4-6) tallied a score with 42 second in the first period before the Garnet ripped off four straight goals, including Wilson’s second of the afternoon, opening a 5-1 lead after senior midfielder Ivano Ventresca (Macungie, Pa. / Emmaus) (pictured right) scored an unassisted goal at 8:59.

The Continentals scored twice to cut it to a 5-3 deficit but DeSimone ripped the net cords at 1:36 to give Swarthmore a three-goal lead at intermission.

DeSimone (Ronkonkoma, N.Y. / Connetquot) assisted on Swarthmore’s seventh goal of the day, finding senior Chris Harman (New Market, Md. / St. John’s Prospect Hall) at 13:08. It was Harman’s first goal of the season, making his 2008 debut after an early-season injury.

Hamilton scored twice in the latter stages of the fourth period, but Swarthmore senior goalie Frank Mazzucco (Redding, Conn. / Joel Barlow) made three saves in the fourth to hold up the win. Mazzucco posted 12 saves on the afternoon, maintaining his spot amongst the top goalies in the Centennial with a .617 save percentage in 2008.

Centennial action hits the Garnet hard next Saturday, when Swarthmore travels west to face second-ranked Gettysburg on April 19 in a 5:00 p.m. contest.
