Mazzucco Named CC Defensive Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Swarthmore goalie Frank Mazzucco was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week of March 31- April 6, as announced by the Conference office on April 7.

Mazzucco (Redding, Conn. / Joel Barlow), a senior, turned away 30 of 39 shots on goal (.769 save percentage) in a pair of Garnet wins last week. He had six of his 14 stops in the fourth quarter in the 7-6 overtime win at Goucher on April 2. Mazzucco then stopped 16 shots, including five in the final 15 minutes, in a 4-3 win against McDaniel on April 5.Frank Mazzucco ‘08

This is Mazzucco’s second Centennial weekly honor—he was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week last season.

The Garnet are 6-4 overall and 1-4 in the Centennial. Swarthmore returns home on this Wednesday, April 9, hosting fifth-ranked Washington (Md.) College at 7:00 p.m.
