Garnet Blow Through Florida

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Swarthmore outdoor track & field team battled through stormy conditions in northern Florida at the 58th annual Florida A&M University Relays on March 8-9.

Garnet sophomore Nyika Corbett (Myrtle Point, Oregon / Myrtle Point) and junior Bess Ritter (Quaker Hill, Conn. / Waterford) ran well in the 5,000-meter race, finishing third (19:19.4) and fourth (20:12.7), respectively. In the men’s event, senior Jon Shoop (Reno, Nev. / Incline) placed 12th with a time of 16:53.5.

The women’s 4x800-relay team earned a third-place finish with a 10:56.38 time while the men’s 1600 sprint medley ran fourth in 4:14.52.

Swarthmore returns to Delaware County with a March 29th meet at Widener University. The Garnet take part in the Danny Curran Invite, slated to being at 10:00 a.m.
