Garnet Yield Centennial Win to Mules

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- The Muhlenberg women's basketball team used their home court advantage for a 74-64 win against Swarthmore on Tuesday night.

Muhlenberg (5-2, 3-1) started the game out strong with an unanswered eight point run in the first three minutes. The Garnet (2-4, 1-2) came within five points during the first half at the 9:52 mark when Laura Popovics ’08 (Gorham, Maine / Gorham) sunk a 3-pointer. Swarthmore marked 8 points from the line while the Mules who went 0-for-6. Closing first half play the Mules were up 42-29.

Second half stand out, Ceylan Bodur ‘11 (Istanbul, Turkey / Robert College) came off the bench and made her presence known when she scored 12 of her 18 points from out side the arch for the Garnet. Marking her fourth double-double in a row (fifth for the season) Kathryn Stockbower ’11 (Ft. Washington, Pa. / Upper Dublin) scored 17 points and had a game-high 15 rebounds.

Swarthmore women’s basketball continues on Saturday Dec. 8 when they travel to Goucher to play in a non-conference game at 2:00 p.m.
