Miller Time on the Main Line

BRYN MAWR, Pa. - Swarthmore freshman Anne Miller was a triple-winner and teammates Sarah Cotcamp '07, Julia Wrobel '10, Laura Rainey '09, and Janice Yeo '07 all picked up two victories as the Garnet women opened the second semester with a 147-47 win at Bryn Mawr Tuesday night.

The Swarthmore women (5-2 overall, 4-0 Centennial) opened up the evening by taking the top two spots in the 400 medley relay.  Allie Jordan '09, Yeo, Veronica Medina '07, and Claire Shelden '10 took top honors with a time of 4:23.13.

After the Owls won the 1000 freestyle, Swarthmore swept the top four spots in the 200 free style with Miller (2:06.39), Cotcamp (2:07.78), Whitney Nekoba '07 (2:10.05), and Shelden (2:11.91) finishing in succession.  Wrobel claimed victory in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.51 and Rainey followed with her first win in the 200 IM (2:24.39). 

Miller won her second event of the evening in the 200 butterfly (2:13.57), leading Jennie Lewis '08 (2:18.74) and Katie Schmidt '07 (2:34.78) to the wall.  Cotcamp (56.73) and Wrobel (57.00) swam one-two in the 100 freestyle, followed up by Medina's victory in the 200 backstroke (2:28.73).  Rainey picked up her second win of the night in the 500 freestyle (5:47.21), just out-touching Nekoba (5:47.38).  Yeo followed with an easy win in the 200 breakstroke (2:36.76) and the Garnet women capped the evening with a victory in the 400 freestyle—the winning team consisted of Lewis, Miller, Cotcamp, and Wrobel with a time of 3:57.14.

The Garnet men and women travel to Gettysburg this Saturday, Jan. 27 for a 2:00 p.m. Centennial meet with the Bullets.
