SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Both the men's and women's soccer programs at Swarthmore are enjoying plenty of success in the first month of the season and now both teams have been recognized with top-10 rankings in the weekly D3kicks.com Mid-Atlantic region rankings.

The Swarthmore women (5-1-1 overall, 1-1 Centennial) roared through the first three weeks of the season without a loss, led by freshman forward Katie Kanuka (eight goals) and a stout defense (0.55 goals against average).  The Garnet went over 417 minutes without allowing a goal - the impressive streak came to an end on Sunday in a tough 3-2 loss at Gettysburg.  Swarthmore is listed eighth in the weekly Mid-Atlantic Region computerized rankings.  

The Garnet men (5-2 overall, 1-1 Centennial), also employ a strong defensive back line led by captain Brendan Grady '08 and Jeff Kushner '09 (0.96 GAA) and an opportunistic offense  (eight different players scored) were listed tenth in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The Swarthmore women will resume Centennial play on Tuesday evening at Clothier Field, welcoming the Muhlenberg Mules (ranked 13th in the D3Kicks.com regional list) for a 7:00 p.m. game.  The Garnet men travel to Chestertown, Md. on Wednesday evening for a 7:00 p.m. Centennial match with Washington College.
