GAME 2 BOX SCORE

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Garnet sophomore Scott Dalane collected four hits and drove in two runs as Swarthmore fell to Gettysburg 5-3 and 7-2 in Centennial Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Clothier Fields.

The doubleheader is a make-up of the rained-out April 22 affair.

Swarthmore struck right away as Dalane doubled in the first inning and then scored on junior Ian Adelstein's two-bagger off the left field fence to make it 1-0 Garnet. Swarthmore added another run in the bottom third off Bullets starter Christian Force when sophomore infielder Patrick Christmas reached on an error, moved over on a ground out by Adelstein, and scored on sophomore Travis Allen's single to right field.

The Bullets (14-20, 6-9 CC) evened the score at 2-2 with a pair of runs in the fourth inning, but the Garnet re-took the lead in the bottom of the sixth as Adelstein came around to score on sophomore catcher Andy Bender's two-out single.

Gettysburg plated three unearned runs in their last at bats to clinch the victory in game one. Force got the first two outs in the bottom of the inning before walking Dalane and hitting Christmas with a pitch. Bullets closer Brian Koch came on in relief and ended the game by getting Adelstein to line out to left field.

Force (2-5) earned the win, pitching 6.2 innings while striking out six and walking five. Koch earned his fourth save of the season by getting the final out.

Varsalona (3-6) suffered the loss despite 7.0 solid innings, allowing only two earned runs while striking out one.

Adelstein was 1-for-3 with a double, RBI, and a run scored while Bender and Allen added a hit and an RBI apiece.

The second game was a tight 2-1 contest until the Bullets pushed five runs across in the sixth, chasing Garnet starter Noah Cooper-Harris '07.

Dalane drove in his second run of the day in the bottom of the ninth, plating Bender with a single to left. The sophomore outfielder had another strong game, collecting three hits in four at bats with the two RBIs.

Swarthmore concludes the 2006 season on Saturday, April 29 at Haverford with a 12:30 p.m. Centennial doubleheader.
