Wang, Garnet Overcome Terror

Swarthmore got 11 kills from outside hitter Jennifer Wang '09, rolling to a 3-0 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference action in Tarble Pavilion on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet improve to 7-4 overall, and even their Centennial record at 1-1. The Green Terror slip to 4-7 and 1-1 in the conference.

Wang tallied four kills in the first game, leading to a 30-24 Swarthmore win. The Garnet ran off eight straight points on two seperate occasions in the second game, winning easily by a score of 30-9.

A crowd of 90 boisterous fans were treated to an exciting third game involving nine ties and eight lead-changes. Swarthmore ran off four straight points, including a pair of kills by Wang, to close of the match with a 30-26 win.

Wang tallied a double-double on the day with 14 digs as well. Erica George '07 had a team-high 20 digs while Emily Conlon '06 tallied 29 assists.

McDaniel had won seven straight matches against the Garnet, dating back to 1995. Swarthmore has turned the tables as of late, winning two of the last three meetings.

The Garnet return to Tarble Pavilion for their next match, hosting Centennial foe Bryn Mawr on Tuesday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m on Faculty/Staff Night.
