Swarthmore Opens Season At Haverford
Ross Weller '08, Vernon Chaplin '07, and Jon Shoop '08 were the top finishers as the Garnet opened their 2005 season at the Haverford Invitational on Friday afternoon.
At the Invitational, Swarthmore competed against teams from Villanova, Haverford, Widener, College of New Jersey, Elizabethtown and Temple.
Weller finished 32nd, circling the four-mile course in a time of 21:05.20, while Chaplin, in his first collegiate race, was right behind in 33rd place (21:08.40). Shoop covered the course in 21:16.00 to finish in 38th position out of 120 runners.
In their next race the Garnet will compete in the Dickinson Long/Short Meet on October 1 at 10:30 a.m.
