Garnet Rallies By Camels in Opener

Matt Gustafson '05 scored 25 points to lead the Garnet to a 65-61 come from behind victory over Connecticut College in the first round of the Equinox Classic at Haverford College.

The Garnet struggled in the first half, shooting just 26.3% from the floor (10-of-38) while Connecticut was hitting at a 45.2% clip (14-31) to build a 30-24 advantage at the break.

Swarthmore found the mark in the second half hitting 14-of-29 attempts (48.3%) to outscore the Camels 41-31 and pull out the victory.

Jeff Maxim '07 scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds and Matt Kurman '08 came off the bench to score 14 points.

Charles Stone, Jahkeen Washington and Zak Harris each scored 12 points for the Camels.

Swarthmore takes on Williams tomorrow at 3:00 and the Camels face Haverford at 1:00 pm at Tarble Pavilion in the conclusion of the Equinox Classic.
