Garnet Soccer Continues to Move Up In D3 Soccer Poll

KANSAS CITY, MO. – The Swarthmore College men’s and women’s soccer teams each moved up one spot in the latest edition of the D3 Soccer poll released on Tuesday. The men climbed to No. 3 in the rankings after knocking off Johns Hopkins 1-0, while the women moved from No. 19 to No. 18. after splitting a pair of games against nationally-ranked TCNJ (L 0-2) and Dickinson (W 1-0).

Golf Opens Fall Season at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore Paul Weston shot a team-best six-over-par 78 to finish in the Top 20, while sophomore Alex Nichamin shot an 11-over-par 81 (36th) to pace the Swarthmore golf team at the Lebanon Valley College Fall Invitational on Monday. As a team, the Garnet finished with a score of 330, good for 11th place and in the upper-half of the 24-team field.

Marie Mutryn Named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week

Tennis Opens Fall Season At Swarthmore Invitational

Carlisle, Pa. – The Swarthmore men’s cross country team opened up the 2009 season with a fourth-place finish in the long run of the Dickinson Long-Short Run on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet finished with a total of 52 points in the long race, trailing only conference rivals Dickinson (1st, 8) and Gettysburg (3rd, 50), as well as Carnegie Mellon (2nd, 15) in the 24-team field

No. 4/9 Garnet Open Conference Play With 1-0 Win Over No. 25 Johns Hopkins

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Before a loud and boisterous crowd of over 600 at Clothier Field Stadium, the No. 4/9 Swarthmore men’s soccer team (6-0, 1-0) used an early goal in the 6th minute by junior Morgan Langley and a lockdown defensive performance to defeat No. 25 Johns Hopkins 1-0 on Saturday evening.

No. 15 Garnet Shut Down No. 25 Dickinson 1-0

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – For the first time in Centennial Conference history, two nationally ranked teams squared off – and this one went to the No. 15 Garnet. Swarthmore (6-1) scored in 17th minute with a goal off the foot of sophomore Hannah Deming and the Garnet defense fended off the Dickinson attack for the 1-0 victory on Saturday afternoon from Clothier Field Stadium.

Volleyball Splits at Neumann

Aston, Pa. – Reigning Centennial Conference Player of the Week Genny Pezzola combined for 33 kills and 27 digs as the Swarthmore volleyball team split a pair of games at the Neumann Tri-Meet, topping the host Knights 3-1 (16-25, 26-24, 25-12, 25-20) but falling to local rival Widener 3-1 (22-25, 23-25, 25-21, 20-25) on Saturday afternoon.

Field Hockey Cruises to 6-0 Victory Over Immaculata
