In order to keep our systems up-to-date and as secure as possible. Effective today, January 13th, we are switching to a newer, safer way to access Turnitin for assignments in Moodle. As part of that process, we are removing access to the &#8220;Turnitin 2&#8221; assignment plugin, and replacing it with a new LTI 1.3 based <strong>Turnitin Assignment<\/strong> (which appears as an &#8220;external activity&#8221; in Moodle).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"280\" height=\"322\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Turnitin-Assignment-Icon.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9566\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Turnitin-Assignment-Icon.png 280w, https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Turnitin-Assignment-Icon-261x300.png 261w, https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Turnitin-Assignment-Icon-52x60.png 52w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 280px) 100vw, 280px\" \/><figcaption>Turnitin Assignment icon in the Moodle Activities selector<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The basic functionality of the Turnitin Assignment is almost precisely the same as the older Turnitin 2 plug-in. To further help folks, we&#8217;ve updated the <a href=\"https:\/\/swatkb.atlassian.net\/wiki\/spaces\/MOODLE\/pages\/20906405\/Turnitin+Assignments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Turnitin instructions in our KnowledgeBase<\/a> for the newer tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As always, please don&#8217;t hesitate to <a href=\"https:\/\/support.swarthmore.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">contact ITS<\/a> if you have questions, or for some reason need to restore access to the older tool. Please note that if you had already set up a Turnitin 2 assignment in your Moodle class, access to it may have disappeared.
