Save Your Computer!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Out of date browser software is a great way to install malware on your computer.\u00a0 A simple way to help avoid computer &#8220;infections&#8221; while surfing the web is by keeping your browser up to date (note: this is one of the most common ways that Macs get infected).<\/p>\n<p>At the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">time of this writing<\/span>, the following are the latest browser versions:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Firefox 3.6.17 or <\/strong><del>4.0.1<\/del> <strong> 5.0.1<\/strong><br \/>\n(you should strongly consider upgrading to 5.0.1 unless there\u2019s a specific application you use that requires 3.6.x)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Safari\u00a0 5.0.5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Chrome 12.0.742.100<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Opera 11.11<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Updates for <strong>Internet Explorer<\/strong> are bundled in Windows Automatic Updates.\u00a0 So, as long as that\u2019s enabled (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and<\/span> you allow it to install the updates), you should have the latest version.\u00a0 Any version of IE <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">before<\/span> 8.0 should be abandoned.<\/p>\n<p>For <strong>Firefox<\/strong> and <strong>Opera<\/strong> users, you can easily check for updates by clicking on Help within your browser and then \u201cCheck for Updates\u2026\u201d\u00a0 For <strong>Safari<\/strong> on the Mac, use the \u201cSoftware Update\u2026\u201d feature to get the latest version.\u00a0 For <strong>Google Chrome<\/strong> users, click on the wrench icon on the browser toolbar and then select \u201cUpdate Google Chrome\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Download links for all the latest browser versions are below:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a title=\"Firefox download\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla.com\/en-US\/firefox\/new\/\" target=\"_blank\">Firefox<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a title=\"Safari download\" href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/safari\/download\/\" target=\"_blank\">Safari<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a title=\"Chrome download\" href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/chrome\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chrome<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a title=\"IE download\" href=\"http:\/\/windows.microsoft.com\/en-US\/internet-explorer\/downloads\/ie\" target=\"_blank\">Internet Explorer<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a title=\"Opera download\" href=\"http:\/\/www.opera.com\/browser\/download\/\" target=\"_blank\">Opera<\/a><\/p>\n<p>While you\u2019re at it, you should really consider making sure other popular applications are up to date including Adobe Reader, Flash and Shockwave, Java, QuickTime, etc.\u00a0 Refer to <a title=\"Give your computer a fighting chance\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/2010\/10\/18\/give-your-computer-a-fighting-chance\/\" target=\"_blank\">this article<\/a> for an easy way to determine what needs updating on your computer.<\/p>\n<p>The cyber miscreants are counting on your software being <em><strong>out of date<\/strong><\/em>!\u00a0 Why make it easy for them??<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Out of date browser software is a great way to install malware on your computer.\u00a0 A simple way to help avoid computer &#8220;infections&#8221; while surfing the web is by keeping your browser up to date (note: this is one of the most common ways that Macs get infected).
