Or maybe you&#8217;re trying to take a screenshot of a particular area on your Mac but you cannot depress Command+Shift+4 together while also having your grandkid in your arms? Maybe you use a switch device and can school me on&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let us introduce you to the assistive technology Sticky keys can help you in these\u2014and many other\u2014situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Sticky keys allow you to press keys in sequential order instead of all together to activate commands.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A note of caution:<\/strong> if you search &#8220;Sticky keys&#8221; on the internet, you will mostly get information about how to clean your keyboard. While useful, this is not what we&#8217;re referring to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Activating Sticky keys<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chromebook sticky keys<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Open <strong>ChromeOS Settings<\/strong>,<\/li><li>Scroll to <strong>Accessibility<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Select <strong>Enable sticky keys (to perform keyboard shortcuts by typing them sequentially)<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><em>OR<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-b0dcf534-c18d-4b49-b503-6c801c260a94\"><li>Press <strong>Alt+Shift+S<\/strong>,<\/li><li>Scroll to <strong>Accessibility<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Select <strong>Enable sticky keys (to perform keyboard shortcuts by typing them sequentially)<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>See: <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/r-Iytoycpsc?si=voL4sicvWSRTx0JI&amp;t=26\">Sticky keys | Chromebook Mobility-Assistive Features and Functionality [YouTube]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mac sticky keys<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Option + Command + F5<\/strong>,&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>OR&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Triple-click on the <strong>Touch ID <\/strong>button<strong>,&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Then:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Scroll down to <strong>Motor<\/strong> section,<\/li><li>And toggle the radio button next to <strong>Sticky Keys<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>You can control more settings in Sticky keys on Macs by <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>selecting <strong>Settings<\/strong> at the bottom of the dialog box. <\/li><li>Then, scroll to <strong>Keyboard<\/strong>,<\/li><li>Find and select <strong>Sticky keys<\/strong>,<\/li><li>Click the <strong>info button<\/strong> to the right of the toggle.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Useful settings for me are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Press the Shift key five times to toggle Sticky keys;<\/li><li>Beep when a modifier key is set;<\/li><li>Display pressed keys on screen; <\/li><li>and setting the Screen area for display.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>See: <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/guide\/mac-help\/change-keyboard-settings-for-accessibility-mchlae61a6de\/mac\">Change Keyboard settings for accessibility on Mac | Apple Support<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Linux sticky keys<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Open the <strong>Activities<\/strong> overview<\/li><li>and start typing <strong>Accessibility<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Click <strong>Accessibility<\/strong> to open the panel. <\/li><li>Select the <strong>Typing<\/strong> section to open it.<\/li><li>Find the <strong>Typing Assist<\/strong> section,<\/li><li>switch the <strong>Sticky Keys<\/strong> switch to <strong>on<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>See: <a href=\"https:\/\/help.ubuntu.com\/stable\/ubuntu-help\/a11y-stickykeys.html.en\">Turn on sticky keys | Ubuntu documentation<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Windows sticky keys<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Press <strong>Shift<\/strong> 5 times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See: <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-au\/office\/present-with-real-time-automatic-captions-or-subtitles-in-powerpoint-68d20e49-aec3-456a-939d-34a79e8ddd5f\">What is the Sticky Keys feature? | Microsoft Support<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our KnowledgeBase (KB)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As always, you can find how-tos, including one on <a href=\"https:\/\/swatkb.atlassian.net\/wiki\/spaces\/ALLY\/pages\/150863874\/Activating+Sticky+keys\">Activating Sticky keys<\/a>, in <a href=\"https:\/\/swatkb.atlassian.net\/wiki\/spaces\/ITSHELP\/overview?mode=global\">Swarthmore&#8217;s KnowledgeBase (KB)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do you have feedback?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If there<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>are other tools you use for sticky keys;<\/li><li>are errors in the directions;<\/li><li>or there aren\u2019t directions for your device,<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>let us know!
