{"id":6055,"date":"2019-08-27T11:52:18","date_gmt":"2019-08-27T15:52:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/?p=6055"},"modified":"2019-08-27T11:52:18","modified_gmt":"2019-08-27T15:52:18","slug":"moodle-tips-for-fall-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/2019\/08\/27\/moodle-tips-for-fall-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Moodle Tips for Fall 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a previous post, we talked about <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/2019\/08\/12\/whats-new-in-moodle-for-fall-2019\/\">what&#8217;s new in Moodle for Fall 2019<\/a>.\u00a0 Here are a few additional tips to help you be a Moodle Master.<\/p>\n<h1>Dashboard<\/h1>\n<p>The Moodle home page dashboard and course listing have been revamped to provide more options for displaying your courses.\u00a0 We have a <a href=\"https:\/\/kb.swarthmore.edu\/display\/MOODLE\/Moodle+Dashboard\">help page that explains how to customize the page<\/a> to best fit your needs.<\/p>\n<p>Professors, you may want to <a href=\"https:\/\/kb.swarthmore.edu\/display\/MOODLE\/Setting+a+Course+Image\">set a course image<\/a> to make your class stand out.<\/p>\n<h1>Autocomplete Dropdown List Not Closing<\/h1>\n<p>There is a Moodle bug that is causing dropdown menus for name search boxes in the <strong>Enroll users<\/strong> and <strong>Quickmail<\/strong> areas to stay open, blocking other options.\u00a0 The workaround is to click in the name search box and press the Escape (esc) key.\u00a0 We anticipate this will be fixed within a few weeks.<\/p>\n<h1>Link to Office Hours Scheduler<\/h1>\n<p>The updated version of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swarthmore.edu\/officehours\">Office Hours Scheduler<\/a>\u00a0is available now.\u00a0 Add a link to your Moodle course to allow your students to sign up for office hours, presentation slots, or even seminar breaks!\u00a0 Check our <a href=\"https:\/\/kb.swarthmore.edu\/display\/ACADTECH\/Office+Hours+Scheduler\">help documentation<\/a> for more info.<\/p>\n<h1>Common Start of the Semester Tasks<\/h1>\n<p>A list of commonly asked questions at this time of year:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kb.swarthmore.edu\/pages\/viewpage.action?pageId=13467671\">Make a course available to students or guests<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kb.swarthmore.edu\/pages\/viewpage.action?pageId=12877969\">Add or remove enrollments<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kb.swarthmore.edu\/pages\/viewpage.action?pageId=13467695\">Upload multiple files or folders to a course<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kb.swarthmore.edu\/pages\/viewpage.action?pageId=13467689\">Copy a course from a previous semester<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kb.swarthmore.edu:8443\/pages\/viewpage.action?pageId=13467685\" rel=\"nofollow\">Merge multiple sections of a course<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a previous post, we talked about what&#8217;s new in Moodle for Fall 2019.\u00a0 Here are a few additional tips to help you be a Moodle Master.
