Happy second semester, everyone!<\/p>\n

One thing we hear is that we sometimes hide behind computers too much.\u00a0 Come on…like you don’t hide behind screens yourself?\u00a0 Oh…you don’t?\u00a0 Good for you!<\/p>\n

But for real, we heard you, and we (ITS) are happy to introduce a new series as part of the blog — we are calling it “Who Is That?” and we will\u00a0give you a glimpse into who we are with some offbeat questions for the good folks who make stuff work here at the College for you.<\/p>\n

Today we are featuring Aixa Pomales (AP)!<\/p>\n

Interviewer: Aixa, how long have you been working here?<\/p>\n

AP: Since 2010!<\/p>\n

I: What is your title, and what other titles have you held here?<\/p>\n

AP: My title is Director of Support Services, previously Director of Client Services.<\/p>\n

I:\u00a0Please explain your job using only haiku.<\/p>\n

AP:\u00a0Oversee? Sometimes!
\nCheer on? Always!\u00a0 Meetings: Lots.
\nSupporting campus.<\/p>\n

(Side note: Do emoji count as syllables?\u00a0 If so, how?!)<\/p>\n

I: I have actually no idea.\u00a0 Maybe ask the Writing Center<\/a>?<\/p>\n

I: Please tell us two truths and a lie (answers to be revealed at the top of the next “Who Is That?”\u00a0 blog post):<\/p>\n

AP:<\/p>\n

  1. I come from Puerto Rico.<\/li>\n
  2. I am a great swimmer.<\/li>\n
  3. I have many many cousins.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I:\u00a0What is the one thing you wish everyone knew about your job here?<\/p>\n

    AP:\u00a0Our busiest time of the year is the summer. As we bid adieu to most of our colleagues, we roll up our sleeves and get a lot of work done.<\/p>\n

    I: What is something you’re proud of at work?<\/span><\/p>\n

    AP:\u00a0I work with an amazingly gifted team. Not only in technology skills, but most importantly in the soft skills.<\/span><\/p>\n

    I: What is\u00a0something you’re proud of outside of work?<\/span><\/p>\n

    AP:\u00a0My family.<\/p>\n

    I:\u00a0What aspects of your professional life would you like to share?<\/p>\n

    AP:\u00a0My team inspires me to want to do better and to be better as a technician, leader, and human being!<\/p>\n

    I:\u00a0Do you have words to live by?<\/p>\n

    AP:\u00a0Don\u2019t let anyone else steal your joy.<\/p>\n

    I: What are you passionate about?<\/p>\n

    AP:\u00a0I believe we need to see more women in technology leadership roles and specifically for Hispanic women.<\/p>\n
