At present, as has been the case for some years now, we support five different statistical\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-4404 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/jmp.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"186\" height=\"108\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/jmp.jpeg 295w, https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/jmp-104x60.jpeg 104w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 186px) 100vw, 186px\" \/>analysis packages. Some are more commonly used in Economics (Stata, SPSS), some in Biology and Statistics (JMP, SPSS, R) and some in Psychology and Education (SPSS, R), or <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4403 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/SPSS.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"127\" height=\"127\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/SPSS.png 160w, https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/SPSS-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/SPSS-60x60.png 60w, https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/SPSS-50x50.png 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 127px) 100vw, 127px\" \/>Sociology (SPSS, Stata, R). While others seem to have mostly fallen by the wayside (DataDesk) after a long and useful life in various departmental courses. \u00a0In all cases, we endeavor to support software tools that can facilitate\u00a0the teaching efforts of\u00a0multiple departments, to get the most efficient and effective use of the College&#8217;s funds to support teaching.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4401 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/RStudio-Logo-Blue-Gradient-300x105.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"84\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/RStudio-Logo-Blue-Gradient-300x105.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/RStudio-Logo-Blue-Gradient-768x270.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/RStudio-Logo-Blue-Gradient-1024x359.png 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/RStudio-Logo-Blue-Gradient-171x60.png 171w, https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/RStudio-Logo-Blue-Gradient.png 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/>For the past year, combining Mac and Windows uses, as well as faculty, staff and student use, we&#8217;ve noted roughly 238 individual users of Stata, 217 individual users of JMP, 133 users of SPSS and just 6 users of DataDesk! <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4086\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/R_logo-1-300x233.png\" alt=\"R logo\" width=\"156\" height=\"121\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/R_logo-1-300x233.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/R_logo-1-77x60.png 77w, https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/R_logo-1.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 156px) 100vw, 156px\" \/>For R, we don&#8217; t yet have direct usage data, but we&#8217;ve noticed that R-Studio, the graphical development environment for R is\u00a0installed on 166 personal\u00a0computers (not including the public areas and College technology classroom spaces, which would roughly double that count).
