{"id":4257,"date":"2017-08-10T14:58:07","date_gmt":"2017-08-10T18:58:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/?p=4257"},"modified":"2017-08-10T15:29:37","modified_gmt":"2017-08-10T19:29:37","slug":"moodle-updates-for-fall-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/2017\/08\/10\/moodle-updates-for-fall-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Moodle Updates for Fall 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ITS will be updating to Moodle version 3.3 on Wednesday August 16, 2017 from 7-10AM. \u00a0The new version of Moodle has\u00a0both aesthetic and functional improvements. \u00a0The most noticeable change will be the updated theme, which will be more modern and accessible. \u00a0The course listing will be split into current, future, and past courses, making it easier to find your\u00a0courses.<\/p>\n<p>All your current courses and content\u00a0will remain, but the\u00a0site design and functionality will be improved.<\/p>\n<h2>Other improvements<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/32\/en\/Using_Assignment#Overriding_assignment_deadlines\">Easy overrides for assignment deadlines<\/a>\u00a0make it simpler\u00a0to grant assignment extensions<\/li>\n<li>Limit\u00a0assignment submission file types to require students to upload specific file types such as .doc or .pdf<\/li>\n<li>Drag and drop media files into a course page to quickly add audio and video files to your course<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/33\/en\/Stealth_activities\">Stealth Activities<\/a>\u00a0allow more flexibility in course design by enabling linking to hidden\u00a0activities<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/moodle.com\/2017\/05\/23\/enhance-online-communications-support-emoji-characters-moodle-3-3\/\">Emoji Support<\/a>\u00a0\ud83d\ude44<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Two minute video demonstration\u00a0of the new Moodle theme<\/h2>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Boost for Teachers in Moodle 3.2\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YjlgrVag6JQ?list=PLxcO_MFWQBDfrcwIG_jYHr7BrOLD-fPL4\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
