There are a variety of new features and improvements to make using Moodle easier.<\/p>\n<p>On August 23-24, 2016, the Academic Technologists\u00a0are holding Moodle Help Desk\u00a0Hours to meet with\u00a0individual faculty to provide assistance with getting courses set up in Moodle. \u00a0We also have a workshop scheduled for\u00a0<em>Collecting and Grading Assignments Electronically in Moodle<\/em>.\u00a0For more details, times, and to sign up for individual help visit <a href=\"http:\/\/calendar.swarthmore.edu\/calendar\/EventList.aspx?fromdate=8%2f23%2f2016&amp;todate=8%2f24%2f2016&amp;view=DateTime&amp;display=Day&amp;type=public\" target=\"_blank\">our workshop pages on the\u00a0campus calendar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Among the improvements for this Fall:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Better online grading:<\/strong>\u00a0faculty can now mark up and grade a variety\u00a0of document types, including MS Word, PDF, and text files from within Moodle without having to download files.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recycle bin: \u00a0<\/strong>Deleted course materials now go to a recycle bin before being removed\u00a0permanently. \u00a0If you have ever accidentally deleted an item you will enjoy this new feature. \u00a0The recycle bin stores deleted items for a week before they are permanently deleted.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Moodle Mobile App enhancements: \u00a0<\/strong>The Moodle Mobile app for Android and iOS is more useful because it can\u00a0now display a much wider variety of content. \u00a0If you&#8217;d like to access your courses from a mobile device, you may want to consider downloading the &#8220;Moodle Mobile&#8221; app from the Apple App Store or Google Play store and giving it a try.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Drag-and-drop Images into the text editor:<\/strong> Moodle has allowed users to drag images onto the main page for a while, but now it is possible to drag images into a text editing box, too. \u00a0This makes it easy to add your pictures to a label, forum post, or assignment description.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Deleting an entire topic\/week:<\/strong> In the past, deleting all the content from an entire topic or week was time consuming. \u00a0It is now possible to delete the entire topic\/week, which removes all the content inside of it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For all the details on the enhancements, you can check out the moodle.org site. \u00a0We upgraded from Moodle version 2.8 to 3.1, so there are three\u00a0pages\u00a0of new features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/29\/en\/New_features\" target=\"_blank\">New features in version 2.9<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/30\/en\/New_features\" target=\"_blank\">New features in version 3.0<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/31\/en\/New_features\" target=\"_blank\">New features in version 3.1<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We just updated our Moodle site to version 3.1.
