Over the coming implementation cycle, systems you regularly interact with\u2014including Faculty Services, the Major\/Minor Portal, mySwarthmore, JobX, and BenefitFocus\u2014will migrate entirely to Workday. At the institutional level, Swarthmore is engaging with AI through a lens of critical, cautionary resistance. In partnership with the TLC and the College Libraries, we have established two operational blueprints: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swarthmore.edu\/teaching-learning-commons\/library-and-its-guidance-faculty-artificial-intelligence\">Guidance for Faculty on AI<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swarthmore.edu\/teaching-learning-commons\/library-and-its-guidance-students-artificial-intelligence\">Guidance for Students on AI<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"p-rc_dfb2165a67c772a5-214\">From an enforcement perspective, ITS views <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/2025\/10\/24\/digital-testing-in-an-ai-world\/\">automated text-detection tools (such as TurnItIn) as unreliable<\/a> due to false positives. Instead, we advocate for structural and strategic pedagogical shifts, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>random audits. A recent Tea for Teaching podcast episode \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/teaforteaching.com\/444-random-audits-to-deter-cheating\/\">Random Audits to Deter Cheating<\/a>\u201d discussed <a href=\"https:\/\/papers.ssrn.com\/sol3\/papers.cfm?abstract_id=6378478\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/papers.ssrn.com\/sol3\/papers.cfm?abstract_id=6378478\"><em>Random Audits as a Scalable Deterrent to Cheating: Using Game Theory to Design Fair and Effective Academic Integrity Systems for the AI Era<\/em><\/a> with the author, David Wiley, which details how David has utilized random audits as a scalable, fair deterrent to academic dishonesty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>continuous engagement. We have been actively supporting faculty members utilizing things like <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/its\/2024\/04\/01\/changes-to-perusall\/\">Perusall,<\/a> which is a social e-reader allowing instructors to observe how students analyze text and think critically over an extended period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p id=\"p-rc_dfb2165a67c772a5-217\">We know people have questions and concerns about AI.
