It’s that time of year again, where we get to turn our hands and tools toward making the holiday a little bit make-ier. Here’s a quick glimpse of what seasonally specific specimens have been spotted in the Makerspace this last week:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u2191 Above, we see some 3D printed pumpkin companions produced by students in Libraries Emerging Technology fellow Liz Hogrefe’s Blender\/3D Modeling workshop. Thanks to ITS friend Jeremy Polk for hosting the software side of the workshop in the new Creative Media Commons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u2191 3D printing costume components is quite popular — here we see some accessories from a TRON<\/em>-themed outfit that maybe the most discerning and nerdy among you may recognize at a glance. Pretty awesome detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u2191 Makerspace student tech and costume wizard Charlie Schuetz tries on the first component of his gnome outfit. Much discussion went into the appropriate size of gnome hat for a 5’10” human.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u2191 Here you find the eternally blank stare of our homemade CNC-cut jack-o-lantern. Only with computerized, digital precision can you really capture that moment where a giant vegetable gains sentience, and instead of marveling at the wonder of existence, he is frozen pondering the horror of nonbeing. Trick or treat!<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
