{"id":1138,"date":"2013-05-31T15:13:18","date_gmt":"2013-05-31T15:13:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/institutional-research\/?p=1138"},"modified":"2023-09-13T15:41:13","modified_gmt":"2023-09-13T15:41:13","slug":"reflecting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/institutional-research\/?p=1138","title":{"rendered":"Reflecting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m taking a little break from the phone calls and talking with the amazing pool of candidates who have applied for the <a title=\"Why IR is hiring\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.swarthmore.edu\/institutional-research\/?p=1083\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">two IR positions<\/a> to think about all of the changes taking place at Swarthmore. \u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swarthmore.edu\/commencement.xml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Commencement<\/a> always makes me wistful, but there&#8217;s a lot to look forward to.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone has been very busy this year working on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swarthmore.edu\/strategic-directions.xml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">key initiatives<\/a> that have come from our recent planning process, and these are starting to take shape. \u00a0 A <a href=\"http:\/\/cmp.swarthmore.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">campus master plan<\/a> that helps us to prepare for the changes that these initiatives may bring is entering its final stage of preparation and presents exciting possibilities. \u00a0 This spring our students have challenged the College to more deeply engage with many <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swarthmore.edu\/news-and-events\/swarthmore-community-engages-in-challenging-campus-wide-conversations.xml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">issues of concern<\/a>, and the poise and compassion of Swarthmore&#8217;s leadership in responding to these challenges has been an inspiration to me. \u00a0 And of course, I&#8217;m looking forward to having a fully staffed Institutional Research Office which can support the College&#8217;s effectiveness in all of these efforts.<\/p>\n<p>After this incredibly busy year, commencement this weekend, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swarthmore.edu\/alumni\/alumni-weekend-x42876.xml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">alumni weekend<\/a> next weekend, a relatively quieter period to recover and re-energize will surely be welcomed by all of us!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m taking a little break from the phone calls and talking with the amazing pool of candidates who have applied for the two IR positions to think about all of the changes taking place at Swarthmore. \u00a0 Commencement always makes me wistful, but there&#8217;s a lot to look forward to.
