The connection is the question of when we need rules, and when we can let courtesy, discretion, responsibility, the give and take of interaction, and ultimately the messiness of life do their things. I don’t have an answer in rule form, ha, but generally I’m in favor of letting processes play out. Even if sometimes that casts us as Elisha Cook in The Big Sleep.
