I don’t know if you’re following Culture Digitally, but there is plenty of interest there in doing more work on algorithmic interfaces.
The thing that struck me in your post was the comparison of 500px to WoW — I’ve been wondering about the links between UGC as a characteristic of game play (in Minecraft, e.g.) and “straight” UGC sites like Flickr. You’re mixing both, which makes me curious about framing art (digital photography) as a practice of play.
