i talked about this with a south african lady on my most recent plane ride (brussels to london — oh my!), and zimbabwe has been in my head since then. i must keep reminding myself that her view, as a south african of dutch descent may not be the most neutral, but at least the thoughts are in my head.

and, of course, many of the thoughts have led to “if only i had been able to take burke’s south african history course! then i’d know!”
