Garnet Volleyball Drops Two on Day One of Cal Lutheran Fall Classic

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Sophomore Kat Montemurro’s explosive attack led the Garnet offense but wasn’t enough as the Swarthmore College volleyball team (15-6, 5-1 CC) would drop its first two games on Friday in the California Lutheran Fall Classic with a heartbreaking five set loss to Chapman University and a three set loss to Occidental College.

Montemurro racked up 24 kills and two service aces on the day..

Garnet Volleyball Takes Down Mules 3-0 for Fifth-Straight Victory

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Freshman Maggie Duszyk led the attack with 12 kills while junior Hillary Santana led the defense with 19 digs as the Swarthmore College volleyball team (15-4, 5-1) routed Muhlenberg 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-21) from Tarble Pavilion on Tuesday evening.

With the victory, the Garnet has now won five consecutive Centennial Conference matches without dropping a single game.

No 2 Swarthmore Runs Past Ursinus 3-0

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Junior captain Micah Rose’s fifth goal of the season in the 17th minute of the goal gave the No. 2 Swarthmore College men’s soccer team (10-0-1, 4-0-1 CC) an early lead over Ursinus (1-9, 0-5 CC) but two goals late in the second half solidified the dominant 3-0 Swat victory on Saturday night on Clothier Field.

Chwastyk Records 100th Victory with 3-0 Rout of Bryn Mawr

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore volleyball team (13-4, 3-1 CC) went on a 7-0 run capped off by four straight aces from sophomore Allison Coleman to win game three and take down conference opponents Bryn Mawr (6-8, 2-3 CC) 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-17) on Thursday night in Tarble Pavilion.

The win marked head coach Harleigh Chwastyk’s 100th career victory at Swarthmore College.

Garnet Golf Fights Through Heavy Rain to Take Seventh in Swarthmore College Invitational

WILMINGTON, Del. – Monday afternoon brought cold weather, heavy winds and blistering rain but it wasn’t enough to stop the Swarthmore College golf team and 14 other teams from golfing in the Swarthmore College Invitational where LaSalle University would capture the crown with a low score of 316. The Garnet would finish seventh with a score of 340.

University of Pennsylvania’s Phil Winter would shoot the low score of the day with a two-over-par 73.

Garnet Celebrate Digging for a Cure Game with 3-0 Rout of McDaniel

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – All 11 Garnet players picked up at least two digs in Saturday’s “Dig for a Cure” game where Swarthmore (12-4, 2-1 CC) would take down the visiting McDaniel Green Terror (1-13, 1-2 CC) in straight sets 25-8, 25-11, 25-22.

Swat’s digs totaled 54 while the Green Terror would record 47.

Shorewomen Navigate Past Garnet 5-1

CHESTERTOWN, MD – Impressive defense and an explosive Washington College (5-3, 3-0 CC) offense would prove to be too much for the Swarthmore field hockey team (3-6, 1-2 CC), as the Garnet fell to the Shorewomen 5-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium.

Swat Field Hockey Falls to Johns Hopkins 5-2

BALTIMORE – Senior goalkeeper Katie Ashmore would stop 13 shots in goal for the Swarthmore field hockey team (3-5, 1-1 CC) but the host Blue Jays (3-4, 1-1 CC) would still manage to put five in the back of the net to top the Garnet on Saturday afternoon at Homewood Field.
