30 Swarthmore Student-Athletes Named to Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll

LANCASTER, Pa. – Thirty Swarthmore College student-athletes have been named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2009 fall season. The honor roll recognizes athletes’ performance both on the field and in the classroom.

Rose Leads Cross Country Women to Fifth-Place Finish at Centennial Championship

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Hannah Rose led the pack for the Swarthmore College women’s cross country team, coming in 17th place with a time of 24:27.43 to help the Garnet earn a fifth-place team finish (39) at the Centennial Conference championship on Saturday afternoon from Gettysburg College.

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Sophomore Hannah Rose (19:06) crossed the finish-line in fourth place and senior Lauren Deluca took ninth (19:44) as the Swarthmore College women’s cross country team finished in third place at the 28th annual Seven Sisters Championship from Mount Holyoke College on Saturday morning. For their Top 10 finish, both Rose and DeLuca were named to the All-Championship team.

Rose Leads Cross Country at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second consecutive meet, sophomore Hannah Rose was the top finisher for the Swarthmore women’s cross country team, finishing in 75th place with a time of 23:18 to pace the Garnet at the Women’s Brown Race at the Paul Short Run on Friday afternoon from the campus of Lehigh University. As a team, the Garnet finished in 31st place with a total of 713 points in the 6K run.

The Garnet female harriers began the year with a pre-season national ranking of 27th in all Division III according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s Division III Cross Country National Poll. The team hit the trails with a determination and the results shone through at the weekly meets.
