LANCASTER, Pa. – Thirty Swarthmore College student-athletes have been named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2009 fall season. The honor roll recognizes athletes’ performance both on the field and in the classroom.

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The homestanding Bullets scored two first-half goals, as the Swarthmore College field hockey team (5-13, 1-9) dropped its season finale to Gettysburg 2-0 on Sunday afternoon from the Battlefield.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – It was a bittersweet ending to the Swarthmore College field hockey team’s home season, as Franklin & Marshall – needing a win to make the Centennial Conference playoffs – rallied for three goals in the second half to defeat the Garnet 4-2 on Saturday afternoon from Clothier Field Stadium. Freshman Sophia Agathis and junior captain Sophia Ferguson scored first-half goals while senior Gina Grubb made it a Senior Day to remember by recording a career-high 17 saves.

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Junior Sophia Ferguson scored her fourth goal of the season, but it was not enough as the Swarthmore field hockey team (5-11, 1-7) fell to rival Haverford 7-1 on Wednesday evening.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – No. 3 Ursinus got two goals each from Alyssa Thren and Megan Yoder, as the high-powered Bears overwhelmed the Swarthmore field hockey team 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon from Clothier Field Stadium. Krista Scheirer made three defensive saves for the Garnet.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -Senior Joslyn Young scored a first half goal on a penalty stroke for the Swarthmore College field hockey team (5-9, 1-4), but the Garnet were unable to overcome the Muhlenberg offense, losing 4-1 on Wednesday evening.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Junior Sara McCabe scored a goal off freshman Sophia Agathis’ Centennial Conference-leading ninth assist of the season, but the Garnet could not overcome a powerful Dickinson offensive attack, as the Swarthmore College field hockey team (5-8, 1-4) lost to Dickinson 4-1 from Clothier Field Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Senior Hoa Pham and freshman Katie Teleky each scored second-half goals, but it was too little, too late for the Swarthmore field hockey team (5-7, 1-3), as the Garnet could not overcome a three-goal deficit, losing to Arcadia 3-2 on a windy Wednesday afternoon from Glenside.
