Mules Close Series With Win

SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Muhlenberg picked-up a 5-1 win over host Swarthmore on Friday afternoon at Clothier Fields during Centennial Conference baseball action.

Muhlenberg improved to an 8-11-1 overall record and 2-0 in the Conference and were led by senior John Kalis who went 4-for-5 on the afternoon while driving in a run.

Swarthmore fell to 8-10, 0-1 CC and were led by junior outfielder Jimmy Gill (Lewes, Del. / Cape Henlopen), who went 2-for-4 while teammate Mike Waterhouse ’12 (Weston, Conn. / Weston) extended his hitting streak to five consecutive games.

It was a scoreless for two innings before Muhlenberg scored three runs in the top of the third.

Swarthmore tried to match the Mules runs in the bottom but could only account for one run. Freshman Michael Cameron (Calabasa, Calf. / Viewpoint) cracked a double out to left field, getting into scoring position and was driven home by sophomore Andy Eisenlohr (Lower Merion, Pa. / Lower Merion).

In the final inning the Mules scored an addition two runs, pushing the final score to 5-1.

Garnet freshman Kyle Crawford (Mississuga, ON / Cawthra Park School) started on the mound and pitched seven innings with three strikeouts for Swarthmore, taking the loss to fall to 1-3.

The Garnet will travel to McDaniel College tomorrow for a Saturday double header. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
