Scots Battle Garnet For Win
SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Swarthmore senior midfielder David DeSimone scored two goals in a 6-4 loss to the College of Wooster on an overcast Wednesday afternoon at Clothier Field in non-conference men's lacrosse action.
Wooster (3-1) took an early lead with the help of midfielder Pat Coyne, who notched two goals while four other teammates each earned one a piece.
Despite Swarthmore (1-2) out shooting Wooster 32-24, the Garnet offense struggled to get off the ground. The home team was led by DeSimone (Ronkonkoma, N.Y. / Connetquot), who added five ground balls. Sophomore attack Tyler Bradshaw (Marietta, Ga. / Lassiter) marked a goal and assist while also collecting five ground balls for the Garnet.
Swarthmore goalie Kevin Friedenberg ’10 (Needham, Mass. / Needham) made 14 saves and seven ground balls on the afternoon.
The Garnet will return to Clothier Field to open their Centennial Conference schedule against Ursinus College. The teams will meet under the lights with the first face-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
