Lazarus In Top Ten, Phong Competes In Womens Draw
ABBOTSTOWN, Pa. -- Garnet sophomore Jeffrey Lazarus held a spot on the leader board after the first two rounds at the 2008 Centennial Conference Golf Championships at the Bridges Golf Club while Samantha Phong '09 was the first Swarthmore women to compete in the Centennial Championships hosted at Old Homestead Golf Course in northeast Pennsylvania.
Lazarus has a two-day total of 156 (76-80) to sit in a tie for 10th, six strokes behind the leader, Bill Snow from Muhlenberg.
Muhlenberg also leads the team scoring with a 609, four strokes ahead of McDaniel. The Garnet did not qualify as a team, according to Conference rules, and are not ranked in total team scores.
Phong, one of the two female Garnet golfers this season, competed as an individual in New Tripoli, Pa. She posted 107 on Saturday afternoon to sit in a tie for 20th with Beth Holt from Franklin & Marshall.
Jennie Weiner from McDaniel leads the women’s competition with an 81.
The final day of competition for both the men’s and women’s Championships takes place on Sunday.
