First Annual Holiday Food Drive

SWARTHMORE, Pa. — The Swarthmore College Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) sponsored its First Annual Holiday Food Drive. The food donations collected during the drive were donated to the Bernardine Center in Chester, a local organization that assists low-income Chester residents.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. — Swarthmore women’s soccer players Caitlin Mullarkey ’09 and Lauren Walker ’09, and freshman Megan Colombo have been named to the 2007 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas All Mid-Atlantic Region team. Mullarkey was named to the second team while Walker and Colombo were third-team.

Two Garnet Men Named All-Region

SWARTHMORE, Pa. — Swarthmore seniors Patrick Christmas and Ryan Sutcliffe have been named to the 2007 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas All Mid-Atlantic Region team. Christmas was named to the second team while Sutcliffe was selected third-team.

Garnet Pop Owl’s Hope for Repeat

BRYN MAWR, Pa. — Swarthmore senior Laura Popovics (Gorham, Maine / Gorham) scored a season-best 16 points to aid the Garnet (4-4) in their 55-46 win against the Bryn Mawr Owls (2-6). Swarthmore did not let history repeat itself, beating the Owls a season after Bryn Mawr ended a 29-game losing streak.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Moravian guard Ryan Miller scored a game-high 13 points and Chris Early added 11 as the Greyhounds (7-2) topped Swarthmore 70-51 in non-conference basketball action Monday night at Johnson Hall.

Prudente Inducted Into Small College Basketball Hall of Fame

PHILADELPHIA — Legendary Swarthmore coach Ernie Prudente was inducted into the Philadelphia-Area Small College Basketball Hall of Fame at a luncheon in his honor on Tuesday, December 11. Prudente, the winningest coach at Haverford College and second-winningest coach at Swarthmore College when he coached the Fords and Garnet from the 1950s to the 1980s.
